In real life you don't pay for your gifts.
I've spent over $200 for these games.
It's not exactly a "gift" when you pay for it.

The cool idea was: Something else than a minipet!
But a consumable item does not really kick.
A better idea would have been:
- Celestial Rat (from Lunar Fortunes)
PLUS
- Normal Rat (from the Celestial Rat / all 5 dishes)
or
- Fireworks NPC (for guild hall)
which could serve as a less moronic money sink than the many consumable item titles.
Fireworks are cool, too... but I just have not much love for consumable items that are used up.

Cool for those with a Guild Hall then, at least.
Kind of odd that they're letting guildless or small guild players miss out, we never bothered with a hall just for the two of us. Oh well, at least I didn't waste hours farming for ingredients in the end.

Since I wasn't around for the first year of this, I did do all the collecting of the items for this year, and I'll say I am really dissapointed, what a complete waste of time that was. I'll remember for the future not to do it again, doubt GW will stille be around that then :/

Lol, devs can cause Fireworks as an emote command, and so any guild with a dev has been enjoying an infinite supply of Fireworks in their guild hall for coming up on three years now... (read: Spearmen). I'm not sure if I was supposed to keep that a secret, but giving this out as the big super surprise for an event is just lame to me when some guilds have/will have this forever, for free, without any tedious ingredient gathering.

A female elementalist named Elona Fiorna went around and supplied items for the Rat's feast, and I watched him/her go to every table and trade in items. It's nice to see that people are doing this.
I think the fireworks were a neat idea though. It is unfortunate for those without a hall, but for the most part, it was a cool thing to give from ANet.

I like the crate. Love how its finally something different and not another mini for everyone to go nuts over. I dont get people complaining over a gift like this. I wonder how many that are even provided the ingredients for the dishes.
Yeah the repeat mask was a bit of a let down, was looking forward to a new hat to add to the growing collection, but the crates are a pretty unique thing. After all, not all of us are able to be in an alliance that can control a town in Factions, so we dont get fireworks whenever we want. Another fun item for any guild parties you happen to throw.

Considering that at most events we just get a hat - getting gift bags, a hat (albeit a repeated one) and fireworks seems like a pretty good idea to me.

Yeah, that was me. I'm a guy, just so there is no confusion.
Happy to help, but I can't take all the credit, or even most of it. Over half the stuff I got was due to others. (not to mention other people in the district had ingredients, too!)
Lfen of Wicca [pve], Magevdon Kul [ILEO], and Undead Bloke [GoE]. These great players either helped me farm the ingredients, or outright gave over half of them to me!
There were others in the parties that I joined to farm the ingredients. I wish I could list all their names and guild tags, but I can't remember them all. So if you were one of those poeple, thanks for helping me!
Besides in all honesty it wasn't purely a desire to help others, much as I like to. I was hoping to get a mini rat. LOL!!!
However, I will say the box of fireworks is awesome, and should make a great display in my Guild Hall should I ever get an occasion to use it!
Finally, I'd like to thank Anet for the wonderful festival. I've only been playing 10 months now, so this was my first Canthan New Year!

Yes, when I read "new", "volatile", and "never before", I expected something that wasn't a giddy little item with limited uses.
Oh well, it is new, volatile, and never before seen I guess.

No, the finale event is NOT a hat, is NOT a miniature. It's a prize that you have never seen before.
|
I like this little part that Gaile said. She is really good at making your mind wonder what it could be, because she said it was something we never seen before....BUT it actually is something we have seen many times over and over the past few years of guild wars.
It is a big let down on the finale event, but the mini celestial rat was pretty nice item. I also like the mini celestial pig.
Its a good thing that we got something new out of this event and we also got things that we love like the mini games

This event would have been fine if they had stayed the hell away from minipets. Bluntly, the ONLY source of minipets should be birthdays. All these other "giveaways" etc breed resentment at the blatant favoritism shown to certain regions or players.
This event just proves the rule : no good deed goes unpunished.

It would have been fine if they left last years mini-pet situation alone. It actually would have been better than last year, because I wouldn't have wasted any time on fortunes (which isn't gameplay in the slightest) and just focused on getting ingredients for the finale.

AFKing for 10 hours on boardwalk. Woke up and realized I was awarded 48 bags, 15 crates and 3 masks. I love AFKing!
Not sure what to do with these junks though
